Stevie Wright, a 16-year-old brunette California girl named after Stevie Nicks, got a golden ticket to Hollywood after auditioning in Phoenix for American Idol's Season 8. Stevie sang Etta James' At Last nicely. Paula praised her voice control, Randy said she was born with it and
new judge Kara DioGuardi whispered to Paula, "she's my girl so far"
after Stevie left the audition area.
Naturally, the Web is already buzzing with after Idol reactions on all the contestants, most notably the slutty bikini girl who liquified Simon's and Randy's brains and the touching blind singer.
USA Today reports Stevie Wright moves up and down At Last's expansive melody easily and repeats that Simon Cowell warned her she'd need to grow some competitive teeth during the competition.
After Stevie's results, producers played Stevie Nicks' Rooms on Fire as the euphoric contestant burst out of the audition room and into the arms of her excited friends. Of course it's ridiculous to compare this young lady to Stevie Nicks simply because they share a name, but it's cool all the same that Idol gave Stevie a nod by playing her song and that this happenstance might introduce some new fans to Stevie Nicks out of curiosity. I've already gotten hundreds of hits today from people Googling 'Stevie Nicks American Idol', 'Who is Stevie Nicks Idol Contestant' and, believe it or not, 'Who is Stevie Nicks'.

I thought she did good. She has a pretty voice and she seems sweet. Probably Simon is right she will have to harden up some to win.
