So after much speculation about the context of Stevie Nicks' recently announced Grammy performance this Sunday night, it is confirmed that Taylor Swift will sing with her. *Spoiler Alert* Stevie and Taylor rehearsed "Rhiannon" and "You Belong With Me". An excerpt from today's Entertainment Weekly article:
Grammy Rehearsals, Day Two...
By Whitney Pastorek
And finally, Friday brought the chance to see Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks collaborate in one of those moments the Grammys are known for. Swift — who has a very good shot at sweeping this year’s major categories, in my opinion — doesn’t wear her Fleetwood Mac fandom on her sleeve as a songwriter, but it is apparently there, for after running through her current single, “Today Was a Fairytale,” she used her very most dramatic voice to introduce her duet partner:
The two women’s voices complimented each other nicely on the harmonies of “Rhiannon,” before moving into a more awkward mandolin-fueled hoedown version of “You Belong With Me.” Never thought I’d see Stevie Nicks playing tambourine behind Taylor Swift, but that’s the magic of Music’s Biggest Night.
“And now, my fairytale dream comes true: I get to share a stage with Stevie Nicks.”

Soooo, what do you think of this pairing? Purely a marketing strategy or simply another duet in keeping with Grammy tendency to pair legend with up and comer recently? I personally do not dig Taylor Swift's music, but then I'm not a tween anymore. Aside from tapping the commercial appeal of Swift's legions of fans, I find it an odd match. I would much rather heard Stevie duet with Alicia Keys, especially since Alicia shared Fleetwood Mac was a great inspiration for her new album.
Stevie is grown folks music and I think I shall wince a wee bit when I see this duet. But nonetheless it's seriously cool to see her perform on the Grammys, in any case.

10 Boots:
No! No! Noooo! Seriously? Why would Stevie want to do that? Taylor Swift is teeny bop bubble gum pop. How odd.
This is bizarre. Stevie might as well sing with the Backstreet Boys or something. I agree with the EW author, I bet the duet of "You Belong With Me" was totally awkward. That is a weird choice on a couple levels.
I bet Stevie felt bad for Taylor having her moment totally destroyed by Kanye West. Stevie seems very sensitive to other people's feelings and maybe she wanted to give Taylor a little mentoring and share the spotlight. I'm excited to see the duet personally.
This is nothing but a marketing move for financial gain. Taylor Swift is the hottest young musician today and this duet will get her fans interested in Stevie. They both write their own songs about love and loss. Yeah I know how much can a kid like Taylor really know about it but hey her millions of fans seem to relate. Chaching.
Anonymous I agree with you about "You Belong With Me". It's like a grandmother and granddaughter singing about a dude. Ewww. Bad song choice.
I reallly don'tt like this and I don't like Taylor Swift. Out of all people why her! As much as I love Stevie, I can see this performance being dreadful :(
Taylor has lately taken a lot of interest in Stevie's music and I'm betting everything I have that it was her idea and her request for Stevie to join her on stage that is the reason Stevie is singing at the grammies this year in the first place. Of course Stevie deserves it completely any year, but she hasn't done anything for a long time and there would have been no reason for the Grammies to ask her. As for Taylor, many of her songs are very deep and meaningful, unfortunately popular radio and the masses usually latch onto her songs that are less so. As for the You Belong With Me song and duet, Butch Walker recently made a gorgeous cover of the song that is available at itunes and he is rumored to also be in that performance, playing banjolin. It really is a gorgeous song and the three of them doing it will make it even more so. You can listen to Butch's version @ his youtube account. I don't know if links are allowed here, if you want the link and the blogger allows it I will post or send it to anyone.
Taylor is the reason why stevie is performing in the grammy. Am suprise you stevie fans are complaining. You should thank taylor for trying to introduce stevie to the young geberation rather than making rude remarks.
Stevie was awesome tonight. Taylor Swift just destroyed the whole song. Her voice was off key. I am so happy that Stevie was there to bring the song together. Way to go Stevie.
Candy, dear, there will never be another Stevie Nicks.. Although, I like Taylor Swift, someone, like Stevie, who has been performing for almost 30 years is quite an accomplishment. We'll see if we are still talking about Taylor Swift in 30 years. hmmmm
